Trump 100 days

How do you like your man now you red-neck idiots? Yes, I'm talking to you Trump voters. As I write this we are closer to the brink of World War 3 than I can ever remember. N. Korea is losing it's shit over their new missile program & Trump is not helping the situation with the ships he is sending over there. But enough speculating on the end of civilization & on to his accomplishments.

These are in no particular order.
  • He made it LEGAL to murder families of sleeping bears. Yes those pesky hibernating bear families in Alaska have met their match. (H.J. Res. 69) not only makes it legal to kill bears, but also dens of wolves, cubs & all. You can also shoot animals from helicopters, very sporting indeed.
  • He is simplifying the tax code (not done yet) lowering the number of brackets from 7 down to 3. Oh yes it also lowers the taxes for the richest people in the country. Thank god, I was worried about the plight of millionaires & billionaires.
  • He is "promoting" made in America & keeping jobs here. Although he still has his ties made in China. His daughter Ivanka has her clothing line made in China as well with workers being paid $52 a week, for long hours & 6 day work weeks all year long. No vacations for those slaves. Way to set a good example for our country.
  • He blocked people from coming into the USA from several Muslim countries  (Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen). This will keep out terrorists, right? If only there were a way for the "bad guys" to fly to another country, not on the list, & fly here anyway. That could never happen though, I'm sure.
  • He has banned refugees from Syria permanently (other countries temporarily) from entering the US. So, people who are FLEEING from the "bad guys" can't come in. Serves them right for being persecuted in the first place.
  • Spit in the face of the Native Americans, again, buy green lighting the Keystone & Dakota Access pipelines. All of the protesting & work by the tribes & others was for absolutely nothing. Why does our government have such a hard on for crapping on Indians?
  • Increased drone strikes by 432% over Obama, killing thousands of civilians in the process. In one battle we bombed a Mosque & then when the ambulances showed up to help the injured people we killed the medics too. Wow that's called a "double tap", those are some fun times right there.
  • He made it illegal for White House officials to lobby for foreign governments, of course that rule doesn't apply to the President.
  • Is killing the budget for the Dept. of Education & the EPA. Why should we care about things like our kids or breathing?
These are but a few of his "accomplishments", here are a few things he hasn't done. YET!
  • Hasn't started WW3, give it a few more months though.
  • Hasn't started, or even figured out funding on, the wall.
  • Hasn't visited a single country, He has been to his private golf course almost every single weekend, so he has been pretty busy in that respect.
  • Still no tax returns.
  • Hasn't replaced the Affordable Care Act (Obama-care) with anything better. They sort of have a plan, and I'm sure it will be better. After all, who really needs health care anyway? Just walk it off.
  • Hasn't apologized for anything yet, even thought he told Jimmy Fallon he would.
But fear not, Trump has a secret weapon: his son in law Jared Kushner. Jared is going to help out Don by doing a few things for him. Jared will be in charge of (I'm not making this up) solving the Israeli-Palestine conflict, fixing our relations with China & Mexico, bringing peace to the middle east, fixing the US opioid problem, writing Trump's speeches, handling Trump's foreign issues & fixing the US government. No shit?

That about sums up the problem with the Trump Presidency. He is a moron! That's all I have to say about that.

Vegan vs vegetarian.

There is a lot of talk about diet, lately. A lot of it focuses on thing that are irrelevant, like gluten. Here is a tip, if you don't have celiac disease, you don't need to worry about it. But there are a lot of other things that people hear about & do it because it is trendy, like low carbs. I was standing in a line at Charlies Chicken once (I'm not making this up) & the woman behind me told her boyfriend "I'm doing low carbs, so I'm just going to get mashed potatoes, mac & cheese & a roll". Seriously didn't have a clue what carbs were or why she didn't need them. But we're talking about Vegans.

Vegans are a special breed of people, the kind who drive a Prius to "save the planet", even though it is not really helping much at all. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate veganism, I just hate the snooty vegans who think they are superior to everyone else. In other words, most of them. Now what, you may ask is the difference? I'll explain it to you.

Vegetarian. These is people who do not eat meat. If you eat fish & call yourself a vegetarian, you are stupid. Vegetarians do not eat ANY meat; this includes, beef, chicken, pork, fish, clams, wombats & the like. I was a vegetarian for about two years, but gave it up for some really good ribs. The typical vegetarian lives this lifestyle for health reasons, it really is a healthier alternative to a carnivorous one. Things they might eat are; vegetables (duh), fruits, nuts, cheese, eggs (sometimes not), bread & Jello-shots.

Vegan. People get this one confused for vegetarian a lot, but here is the low down. Vegans do not eat anything that comes from an animal; this includes: milk, cheese, eggs, honey & even Jello-shots (look up gelatin). Vegans are usually doing this not for health reasons, they are doing it because "milk is murder". Hey vegans, they don't have to kill the cow to get the milk, but whatever. They also don't wear or utalize any clothing made from animals, don't drive normal cars because of fossil fuels & stuff, don't wash with real soap & don't use deodorant. They are usually pretty stinky.

So if you quit eating meat & smell clean, you are probably a vegetarian & I say "Good for you". But, if you think soy is a legitimate substitute for a juicy hamburger patty, please stand downwind from me. You stinky!

If you want to live healthier remember this: everything in moderation, cutting out meat is not really that hard but remember to get your protein, usually from nuts or peanut butter (yum). If you don't want to cut out meat completely, as I am doing, you can quit eating pork & red meat. I am still eating fish & lean chicken. Fish is good for you & yes vegans I know about mercury. I have cut WAY back sugar, salt & I only eat lean meats & fish. No pork. Well I ate a sausage biscuit today, so sue me.

Beggin' For Your Cash!

So, I'm driving down the street & I come to a stoplight, so I stop (naturally, it's red). What greets me at the corner you might ask? A bum. Well, I say bum for effect, it is a person just like me, only he is wanting a handout. "Veteran needs your help" his sign reads. Sad. Or is it? You see it might be a sad tale of a homeless vet in which case I would love to help him. Or this could be a con man, preying on the generosity of others. How do you know the difference? What do you do?

i don't have a solid answer for that. A lot of people will give him money, but most will just ignore him. That says a couple of things about humanity.

One, we are generous to those less fortunate. We feel empathetic & genuinely want to help out when we can.

Two, we are apathetic & don't want to be bothered with the problems of others.

Three, we are gullible & will fall for a good con when it hits us.

Now this scenario has moved from the streets to the screen. Much like other aspects of our lives begging for your cash has gone digital. And in a big way.

"My son & daughter are getting married & I can't afford the Gucci dress she has fallen in love with. Please help us raise the $4,000 to get her dress & make her wedding a reality". Give me a break. Everyone has their hand out, not just the people with sick kids. Now I have no problem for people trying to get money for something serious, like paying for Chemo for a loved one or the like. Insurance only goes so far & in those cases I think crowdfunding is great. I would love to see a real problem helped out by more fortunate people, that would be an awesome thing. But there are too many frivolous things being asked for. I want a new ChromeBook, but I don't feel the need to beg you for it.

I've lost my train of thought here. What I'm trying to say is; help out people if you can, that is just the proper thing to do. If you get scammed, oh well, at least you tried to do the right thing & that's good. But, for the love of corn, don't give money to people who want stupid crap. We have had enough of that already.

Strange & Mysterious Dreams

Have you ever had a dream that seemed very real? What about one that seemed to come true later on? Are you plagued by night terrors or re-occurring dreams? What does it all mean? Probably nothing, but Here are my thoughts & experiences.

One particular dream I remember was my fiancee putting clothes from the closet into a suitcase. She left me a short while later. I didn't realize the significance until after she was gone. GOOD RIDDANCE! I have had many "premonition" dreams during my early life, but none since I was in my thirties or so. My grandmother had them all of her life. Could be coincidences or premonitions, definitely interesting though.

I had an "alien abduction" dream that seemed so real it was horrifying. Turns out those type of dreams are a side effect of a phenomenon called "sleep paralysis". This is brought about by the brain releasing chemicals to paralyze you so you don't thrash about while dreaming & beat yourself up. So, I'm not an abductee, although I did see a UFO once.

When I was younger I had many recurring nightmares about a horrible monster chasing me. I would wake up terrified & it caused me many sleep problems. Then one night, when I was a teen, I stopped in the middle of a chase & confronted my "monster". This was the 1st time I had seen him. It was a swirling mass of black mist, roughly the size of a man. I held my hand up & screamed "STOP" I don't remember the exact words, but I basically told him to leave me alone. I never saw him again until a few years ago. Now he tries to scare me & then we laugh & talk about stuff. I see him once or twice a month. Crazy right?

I have no real advice for you, as usual, but I want to tell you not to worry. Whatever dreams you have know that:

  1. they basically don't mean anything at all
  2. premonitions are probably just coincidence
  3. they are your dreams, take control of them
  4. don't be afraid of sleep paralysis
  5. don't read too much into them(sometimes a cigar is just a cigar)

I recommend keeping a folder by your be & keeping track of ALL of your dreams, even if they don't seem important, it could be helpful & interesting later on.

Survive a Garrote Attack

The garrote is a simple weapon, but has some drawbacks & is fairly easy to counter if you keep a cool head.

A big problem with being a victim of the garrote is your assassin is behind you. Most people would panic, but it is fairly easy to escape. If you are near a wall, slam your attacker against it hard, this will knock some wind out of them. then kick back with one of your feet right in the groin, causing him to loosen his grip. Now grab the garrote wire & turn the tables. Also, never turn your back on a suspicions foe in the first place.

With this helpful tip you should avoid one of the Ninja's most terrifying weapon.

First Week With Chrome OS (sort of)

I started a pseudo Chrome OS on my Windows 7 machine to see if I liked the look & feel of it. Here are my thoughts so far.
  [instructions to simulate Chrome OS]

I have been using my pseudo Chrome OS, & I have to say it is working perfectly for me. I don't need a "full blown" OS like Windows 7 at all. I am looking at my hard drive & there is only 32 GB used, which leaves over 450 GB unused on a 500 gig partition. I used to have a problem with filling up my hard drive & worrying about expanding. Now with everything in the cloud, It's no longer a big deal. I am seriously considering getting an SSD & using my hard drives for media & backups.

I am getting a Chromebook, for sure. Even with a new one, 14" & Google Play app support, It's still under $300. Not a bad deal. Also, the battery life is over 8 hours on most of them.

I think that traditional OS's are pretty much outdated these days. Most people will find Chromium is the way to go. Don't get me wrong, traditional PC's still have their place. I am keeping my powerful Windows 10 machine in the bedroom for video editing & more intensive gaming. Also I am building a home server with this PC. But for my everyday stuff, Google has my back.

Amazon search sucks donkey balls!

OK, I love to shop on Amazon. They literally have everything you could ever want. I have a Prime account & watch videos & TV shows on it. I have bought books, computer stuff & even groceries from them. But they do have one HUGE problem. Search.

Here is my latest example. I'm looking at buying a Chrome OS laptop & wanted to see what the least expensive Windows 10 machines were going for as a comparison. So, I clicked on "laptops" & selected "NEW" from the search options. I then sorted from "low to high price" & guess what I got?

A full page of "refurbished" laptops, not new like I specified. Also on the page were 2 tablets & 3 desktops, not even laptops at all. In fact on the entire page there was only one "new" laptop computer listed. If I had wanted "refurbished" I would have selected that, it was listed in the options. This was actually a good search result. Usually when I search on Amazon I get page after page of completely unrelated items & lots of cheap junk or accessories. I feel the problem is most likely the listings put up by Amazon affiliate sellers. But come on, if I set a specific criteria I want specific results. I don't want to wade through tons of crap.

Fix it Amazon, fix it.
